CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM
HBO
ECD, Director
Making the social assassin a literal superhero.
After a 5-year hiatus, HBO wanted to make a big deal out of the return of Curb Your Enthusiasm, celebrating Larry as a Batman-like anti-hero. So we developed comedic concepts, scripts and Easter eggs to bring this premise to life.
We shot on the Universal back lot’s historic New York City set, in the shadow of Back To The Future's clock tower (a bucket list item for me). The spot is infused with numerous Easter eggs for super-fans, including nods to these classic episodes: The Larry David Sandwich, The Hero, Palestinian Chicken, Seinfeld, and a super-subtle nod to Mocha Joe (I'll Venmo you $20 if you can find it).
The spot was so successful, we reused the footage for one of the oddest cross-promotions ever: Larry joins DC's Justice League.
